– The Croatian Government came forward with a proposal and said, here we will propose to all member states, and we will start first immediately, and Hungary has also announced the same, that transport companies from Serbia that have contracts with companies from Croatia or other EU countries have the right to obtain long-term visas for their drivers. Croatia proposed this solution in Brussels – Cadez said.
As he added, Croatia understands how much it loses daily if transporters block the border. Cadez pointed out that this means that if a carrier from Serbia or from the region has a contract with a Croatian company to transport certain goods, it has the right to obtain long-term residence for its drivers, N1 reports.
– The EU asked carriers to open companies there, but they realized that this is not possible and that certain regulations are also needed within the member states themselves, and on the other hand they do not have enough drivers – Cadez emphasized.
As announced by the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, Cadez sent letters of gratitude to the President of the Croatian Chamber of Economy, Luka Burilovic, and to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior of Croatia, Davor Bozinovic, regarding the constructive and responsible approach of Croatian institutions in resolving the issue of the application of the 90/180 rule for professional drivers from the Western Balkans.
