The donation project will focus on developing a strategy for the development of the district heating and cooling system, preparing investment and technical plans, as well as strengthening the capacities of employees through professional training.
The project is being implemented with the support of the European Union under the EFSD+ program, with the aim of improving strategic planning, energy efficiency and sustainability of the city’s district heating system.
– I am very honored to continue our partnership with the German Development Bank, KfW, a cooperation that has lasted for more than two decades. We have completed significant projects, from the rehabilitation of the heating network, the procurement of pre-insulated pipes and calorimeters, to the construction of a cogeneration plant in Vozdovac, the reconstruction of the main heating pipeline along the Gazela Bridge, as well as the modernization and reconstruction of the Cerak heating plant. These projects have permanently improved our system, raised the level of reliability and enabled a better quality of service for citizens. I am convinced that the donation signed today will be a new step in the modernization and decarbonization of the district heating and cooling system in Belgrade – Vukic emphasized.
On that occasion, Carsten Sandhop emphasized that KfW appreciated the responsibility and importance that this Belgrade company had in the energy system of Serbia and Belgrade.
– Belgrade Power Plants are our reliable partner and an example of an institution that directly improves the quality of life of citizens by investing in infrastructure. I am especially pleased that in the coming period we will continue to work together on projects that contribute to the green agenda, decarbonization processes and environmental protection. We hope that in the future, together with the European Union and other partners, we will continue to implement development and innovative projects in the field of energy, because KfW remains fully open to all forms of cooperation that lead to a more sustainable and efficient energy system in Belgrade – concluded Sandhop.
A capital project was also presented – a new heating plant within the EXPO complex, the construction of which will be completed by March 31. The implementation of this project represents, as indicated, an important moment for Belgrade Power Plants, because Belgrade will receive its first new heating plant since 1987. The new energy facility will be equipped with a modern trigeneration plant that enables the simultaneous production of electricity, heat and cooling energy, making the system more efficient and sustainable, the statement said.
