One step closer to construction of BIO 4 campus – Green permit application submitted for 171,000 m2 complex

The Ministry of Public Investment has submitted a request for a decision on the need for an environmental impact assessment for the BIO4 campus project, which will be built in the Belgrade neighborhood of Kumodraz.

The BIO4 campus complex will cover 26 hectares and will include four spatial-functional units with facilities in the fields of biomedicine, biotechnology, bioinformatics and biodiversity. The campus will house faculties, institutes, research centers, science and technology parks, innovation centers, as well as accommodation facilities for visiting scientists and students.

Phase A, covering an area of 9.4 ha, includes the construction of:

• the faculties of biology and pharmacy,
• the Institute Complex (parts I and II), including the Institute of Molecular Genetics, the Institute of Artificial Intelligence of Serbia, the Faculty of Agriculture, the “Sinisa Stankovic” Institute and several other research centers,
• the Minglarium Center - a central gathering space, a congress center, catering and sports facilities,
• the Science and Technology Park and Center for Ideas,
• the Vivarium and business facilities,
• facilities for storing technical gases.

The total GFA of the new facilities is 171,314.82 m2.

Phase B includes the existing complex of the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Institute of Virology, Vaccines and Serums Torlak, covering an area of 16.6 ha, which will be connected to Phase A by an underground passage under Vojvode Stepe Street.

The main traffic accesses to the campus will be from Vojvode Stepe Street, while secondary accesses are planned through the surrounding street network. The future subway line should provide easy access for a large number of users and employees.
