Balich Wonder Studio, Italian company that organized opening of 2026 Winter Olympics, to also be in charge of opening and closing ceremonies of Belgrade EXPO

In the public procurement procedure, the company Balich Wonder Studio from Italy was selected for the service of organizing and performing the opening and closing ceremonies of the EXPO 2027 Belgrade. The value of the contract is 2.3 billion dinars, or about EUR 19.8 million. The company organized the recent opening ceremonies of the Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, and is also preparing the program of the opening ceremony of the football World Cup, which will be held this year in Canada, the USA and Mexico.

The EXPO 2027 company announced that the Italian company had organized the opening ceremony of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Doha, as well as 16 Olympic and Paralympic ceremonies, including the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics and the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. It was also hired for the opening ceremonies of the UEFA Champions League final and major concerts by the bands Simple Minds, Pink Floyd, and U2.

– I am pleased because we got a globally recognizable company that will be able to present Serbia’s creative identity to the world. This is one of the most important features of the EXPO, which was preceded by a complicated procurement procedure because it involved complex criteria that bidders had to meet – said the director of EXPO 2027 Danilo Jerinic.

He said that the opening and closing ceremonies of EXPO 2025 in Osaka had cost approximately EUR 30 million, and in Dubai in 2020 between EUR 40 and 50 million.

Four companies applied for the public procurement for the service of organizing and performing the opening and closing ceremonies of EXPO 2027 Belgrade.
