Serbia currently has more than 53.3 tons of gold in its reserves and is also purchasing it from domestic sources, said the Governor of the National Bank of Serbia, Jorgovanka Tabakovic. She added that not only was the value of gold growing on the market, but its quantities were also growing.

– We are in no hurry to return the three tons of gold we have in Bern to the country due to logistical reasons and special costs. Everything else is in the vaults of the NBS, but those three tons, which we purchased in 2024, are in Bern as sustainable, liquid, available for certain circumstances – said the Governor.

According to her, since 2017, the NBS, reacting on the interbank foreign exchange market, has secured foreign exchange reserves of EUR 11.3 billion by purchasing euros, which has created the possibility of responding to all possible shocks that may occur in the market.
