Jumbo announces opening of city stores and expansion into new markets

The Greek retail chain Jumbo has announced new investments by opening new stores and introducing a new concept. Apostolos Vakakis, president and owner of the Jumbo Group, has indicated that this is planned by expanding the retail network.

He stated that, in the coming period, Jumbo would test a new format of smaller stores that would operate under the “city” concept. According to him, the stores will be located on areas of 500 to 1,000 m2, reports capital.gr.


The group’s head also announced the expansion of the retail network and entry into the Canadian market, while an independent entry into the Turkish market is also being considered.

The Jumbo Group currently operates in Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria and Romania. In cooperation with the Veropoulos company, Jumbo is also present in North Macedonia and Serbia, while stores in Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as in the market of the territory of Kosovo and Metohija are owned by the Balfin Group, which also plans to enter Moldova.

Jumbo has recently opened a franchise in Israel too. The first Jumbo store in Serbia opened in 2016, and today it operates in six locations in Belgrade and Novi Sad.
