– That statement is interesting, it is a good political statement to say, “here, Europe, we are getting closer to you, we will do everything that suits you and we will buy gas together with you.” In reality, it will be as it has been so far because Europe does not have gas and this energy source cannot be obtained from it – Vuletic told Beta.
In an interview with Reuters, Vucic said that Serbia would continue to buy large quantities of gas from Russia, but also that it planned to secure 500 million cubic meters of gas per year, a fifth of total needs, through the mechanism of joint EU gas procurement.
When asked if Vucic’s statement would anger the Russians because Serbia bought the necessary quantities from them, Vuletic said that it could not anger them because it was clear to them that Serbia could not get gas from the European procurement of that energy source.
– Politicians have the right to say something that someone does not like, while making someone laugh – said Vuletic.
He stressed that the statement “will make the Russians laugh.”
Vuletic assessed that Europe would not stop buying Russian gas from 2027, although it had banned it from that date and that “that is a story for their people who have problems because they do not have enough gas.”
“It is clear to everyone involved in the gas business that Europe cannot get enough gas that is not Russian. They are already buying gas from Russia, so they claim that it is gas from Qatar,” said Vuletic.
He stressed that Russia had increased the production of liquefied natural gas and its delivery to Europe.
– These are data from the international gas union – said Vuletic.
