At its latest session, the Serbian Government adopted the decision to appoint a transport system operator responsible for regulating and administering the natural gas market.

The company Transportgas Srbija d.o.o. Novi Sad was appointed as the operator.

Let us remind that, last spring, the Ministry of Mining and Energy announced that the certification process for Transportgas Serbia as an independent transport system operator had been completed, which was also confirmed by the Energy Community.

As indicated at the time, Serbia has thus made a significant step forward in gas sector reforms, after, as it was added, the goals from the Reform Agenda defined by December 2024, which concern reforms in the electricity sector, were met.

In addition, at the end of last year, the state also established Gas Infrastruktura Novi Sad, a company entrusted with the management of gas infrastructure. The new company Gas Infrastruktura thus became the owner of the infrastructure in accordance with internationally accepted obligations, while Srbijagas remained responsible for supplying the market with gas. This too, as indicated in November, when the new company was established, was done as part of the reform process.
