Serbian Prime Minister Djuro Macut assessed that the signing of the agreement between the governments of Serbia and Republika Srpska for the renovation and reconstruction of the railway between Visegrad and Mokra Gora represented the opening of a new field of cooperation and the continuation of joint efforts to strengthen cultural, economic and other ties between the Serbian people on both sides of the Drina River.

In a statement to reporters after the meeting with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska, Savo Minic, on Tara and the signing of the Protocol on the Establishment of the Mixed Working Group for the “Visegrad - Vardiste - Mokra Gora” Project between the governments of Serbia and Republika Srpska, Macut said that this was one of the fundamental agreements that strengthened special ties.

– By signing this agreement, we are opening a new field of cooperation, but we are also continuing our efforts to strengthen our cultural, economic, infrastructural and other ties that we have with our people from the left bank of the Drina and to lay the foundations for continued cooperation – he said.

The Prime Minister expressed his belief that this agreement would lay the foundation for positioning Visegrad and Andricgrad as a cultural meeting place for both Serbs and other peoples living on both sides of the Drina, but also beyond.

In this way, we will actually show that we take care of our history, said Macut and expressed his belief that the establishment of Andric Days would be the result of this agreement and that this event would become a traditional meeting of peoples living along the Drina.

The Prime Minister conveyed that he had also discussed other aspects of cooperation between Serbia and Republika Srpska with Minic that day.

He reminded that cooperation in the field of healthcare had existed for several years and that it was completely clearly defined, without barriers related to the departure of patients from Republika Srpska to Serbia.

– I hope that we will make similar agreements in other fields – said Macut and announced the opening of large infrastructure projects, but also the actualization of the construction of the airport in Trebinje.
