After almost a hundred days, transport from Janaf has begun, it has been confirmed for RTS, and the first quantities of crude oil are arriving at the refinery in Pancevo.
Janaf stopped the flow of oil to the Pancevo refinery on October 9, when the full implementation of US sanctions began. Like NIS, they were granted a license to continue operating until January 23. And NIS has contracted and paid for the first quantities.
Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic said yesterday that some 85,000 tons would be delivered via the Adriatic oil pipeline in the current week.
- The refinery in Pancevo will start operating around January 16, in any case before the end of the week. We expect the first diesel to be produced and put on the market around January 26-27. As we said, a very difficult period is behind us, where we managed, regardless of all the difficulties, to supply the market. We expect that after these 85,000 tons, an additional 35,000 to 45,000 tons of oil will arrive during the next week and this will ensure, in addition to domestic crude oil, of which there is currently around 120,000 tons, that the refinery can continue to operate for a longer period of time after January 23 - stated the minister.
