International framework for civil space exploration presented in Belgrade

Serbia is seriously considering joining the “Artemis” Agreement, an international partnership framework for civil space exploration, which brings together 60 countries around the world, said Serbian Science Minister Bela Balint.

As announced by the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation, Balint, along with representatives of domestic institutes, attended the presentation of the “Artemis” Agreement in Belgrade, held by representatives of the US State Department and the NASA space agency.

This agreement was initiated by the United States of America in 2020, and the Serbian minister emphasized that cooperation in space exploration had also been discussed during the presentation and expressed hope that the meeting would be fruitful for astronomy in Serbia.

The event was attended by more than 30 researchers from various scientific institutions, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who opened a dialogue with American experts on the legal, scientific and diplomatic framework of the “Artemis” Agreement.

The presentation was organized in the library of the Belgrade Astronomical Observatory.
