Novi Sad to build STP 2 – Focus on development of automotive industry, mechatronics and industrial systems

The construction of Science and Technology Park 2 is imminent in Novi Sad, which will be focused on the development of the automotive industry, mechatronics and industrial systems, the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation announced after a meeting between Minister Bela Balint and Novi Sad Mayor Zarko Micin.

As indicated, the existing Science and Technology Park in Novi Sad is the most modern one in the region, and it also houses the Research and Development Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Serbia.

– Novi Sad is widely recognized as a modern IT and innovation center and a university city with strong faculties in the field of technical and natural sciences, which represent the basis for the further development of innovation and research in the city. It is also the IT center of the region with more than 900 IT companies, which employ more than 15,000 people – said Micin.

The topic of the meeting was the previous cooperation between the ministry and the city of Novi Sad, as well as the prospects for its further improvement in the areas of science and technological development at the local level. Balint assessed that Novi Sad represented an example of good practice in connecting the academic, economic and innovation sectors.

Balint also met with representatives of the Science and Technology Park in Novi Sad, where he was presented with the scientific and innovation capacities of that institution, as well as the vision, mission and strategic directions of development, including current and planned activities.

At the meeting with representatives of the STP, led by the director, Prof. Srdjan Kolakovic, PhD, it was emphasized that the STP Novi Sad was a unique science and technology park in Serbia, located within the university campus, independently financed and operating exclusively on the market. The members of the park are technology companies, startup companies, teams and research and development institutes.
