The solar power plant with a battery storage will be built on a vacant plot owned by NIS, KP 233/48 Smederevo (Oil Products Storage in Smederevo).
The generated electricity will be delivered to the distribution grid, in its entirety, after acquiring the status of producer, according to the request for a decision on the need for an environmental impact assessment for this project, which NIS submitted to the Department of Urban Planning of the Smederevo City Administration in October last year.
The solar power plant will have 7 inverters and 5,400 solar panels with a total installed capacity of around 3.13 MWp.
Alongside it, on the same plot, there will be a battery storage facility with a power of 500 kW and a capacity of 1 MWh, with 5 battery modules.
This is the first solar power plant of this power (belonging to larger solar power plants) that NIS is building (so far it has mainly built panels on the roofs of gas stations and other facilities, for its own needs).
For comparison, all photovoltaic power plants that NIS has built so far have a total capacity of 3.2 MWp.
As eKapija has already written, the construction in Smederevo can be understood as another in a series of moves towards diversifying the business of Naftna industrija Srbije, but also as the company's response to the difficult business conditions following the introduction of US sanctions.
