All details about eSick Leave system – Registration and access via eGovernment and direct insight into electronic remittances

As of January 1, 2026, employers in Serbia will receive data on employee sick leave, as well as documentation for calculating and refunding salary compensation, exclusively electronically, through the eSick Leave-Employer software solution, stipulated in the new regulation jointly adopted by the Ministry of Health and the Office for Information Technology and Electronic Government.

The regulation regulates the method of accessing and using the system, connecting to health and financial information systems, as well as the processing and protection of personal data.

Registration and access via the eGovernment portal

Employers will access the system via the eGovernment Portal, with high-level electronic authentication. After registration, they will be enabled with various user roles - from legal representative to authorized persons for working with sick leave and calculations.

The system automatically downloads basic data about the employer, while data such as a dedicated account and contact information are entered manually.

Direct insight into sick leave and electronic remittances

Through the “Employee Sick Leave Overview” module, employers will have access to current data on temporary incapacity for work - from the date of commencement and duration of sick leave, to the status and cause, as well as the possibility of downloading electronic remittances.

Data is downloaded directly from the National Integrated Health Information System (RIZIS), without submitting paper documentation.

Electronic calculations and refunds

The software solution enables the creation and sending of salary compensation and refund calculation sheets, monitoring of their status, as well as communication with the National Health Insurance Fund. All phases - from preparation to final payment - will be visible in the system.

Paperless complaints and requests

Employers will be able to electronically submit complaints against the assessment of the selected doctor or medical commissions, as well as requests for re-assessment or expert assessment, with an electronic signature and attachments.

Implementation from 2026

The Regulation enters into force the day after its publication in the “Official Gazette,” and applies from January 1, 2026, while certain advanced functionalities are introduced from April 2026.

The introduction of the “e-Sick Leave - Employer” system eliminates the paper exchange of documents and speeds up the procedure for exercising rights based on temporary incapacity for work.
