The comprehensive study will analyze how the increasing integration of renewable energy sources affects the stability and behavior of the Serbian power system.
According to the tender specification, the subject of the procurement is the development of a “Study on testing the impact of the integration of renewable energy sources on dynamic transient processes.” This means a detailed analysis of the way in which solar power plants, wind farms and energy storage systems affect the operation of the power system, especially in times of disruption.
Unlike conventional thermal and hydropower plants with synchronous generators, newer renewable sources have different dynamic characteristics, and their increasing share may affect the stability, frequency response and behavior of the system during faults. Therefore, a complete dynamic analysis of the state of the Serbian power grid was requested.
The tender lists several specific objectives that the selected contractor must meet:
– verification of the existing dynamic model of the Serbian power system in the PSSE software, by comparing simulations with real records from phasor meters during faults in the transmission network;
– analysis of the impact of the integration of renewable sources on various aspects of system stability - transient, voltage, frequency and stability under small disturbances;
– assessment of the system’s ability to maintain stable operation at high RES penetration;
– GAP analysis of parameters from the current National Connection Rules in relation to version 2 of the European network codes;
– proposal of measures, management strategies and possible changes to regulations to preserve network stability.
The tender expires on December 30, other details (in Serbian) can be found HERE.
