The new regulations should reduce emissions and ensure compliance with European climate policies.
The possibility of providing incentives for taxpayers implementing projects aimed at decarbonization is envisaged.
The new law introduces a tax on emissions for carbon dioxide, nitrogen, suboxide and perfluoro hydrocarbons.
MPs also adopted the Law on Import Tax on Carbon-Intensive Products, which should prevent unfair competition between imported products and products of domestic manufacturers, who are subject to a tax on greenhouse gas emissions, as well as provide a stimulating environment for reducing emissions and improving environmental protection.
A tax on imports of carbon-intensive products has been introduced, modeled after the European Union's Carbon Border Assessment Mechanism (CBAM).
The types of products to which the tax applies have been determined, from four groups - iron or steel, cement, fertilizer and aluminum.
The implementation of these laws should, as previously announced, begin on January 1, 2026.
