New Chinese trains for future railway to National Stadium to be equipped with European control system - Government forms working group to prepare contract

The Serbian government has decided to form a working group that will analyze bids and prepare proposals for contract documents regarding the installation of the European Train Control System (ETCS) level 1 on nine new electric trains for speeds up to 120 km/h, which Serbia is purchasing from the Chinese company CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles.

The working group will also consider bids and prepare proposals for maintenance contracts for five new trains for speeds up to 200 km/h, which are intended for domestic and international traffic.

ETCS equipment for trains up to 120 km/h is particularly important for future traffic on the new railway route Zemun Polje-Nikola Tesla Airport-National Stadium, where the operation of a modern train control and management system is planned.

Milan Petrovic, Acting Assistant Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, has been appointed as the chairman of the working group. The deputy chairmen will be Aleksandar Adamovic, acting director of the Railway Directorate, and Masan Radojevic from Srbijavoz. The working group also includes representatives of the ministry, Srbijavoz, and the Railway Directorate.
