Chinese electric car manufacturer JMEV continues talks on investing in Sremska Mitrovica. The third meeting of company representatives with Mayor Branislav Nedimovic was held at the City Hall, and was also attended by the Deputy Mayor of the Chinese city of Nanchang, Jiang Xinhong.

This is a continuation of negotiations on the potential construction of an electric car factory in the city. In previous months, JMEV delegations have visited the working zones and available infrastructure in Sremska Mitrovica several times.

According to information from the city administration, the investors particularly emphasized: the geographical position of the city, the proximity of the Belgrade-Zagreb highway, the existence of a railway corridor, the possibility of using the Sava River for transport, as well as fully equipped working zones.

The models of electric cars that JMEV would assemble in Sremska Mitrovica, if the project receives final confirmation, were presented at the meeting.

The preliminary production volume that JMEV is considering is around 5,000 vehicles per year. This, if the investment is realized, could create new jobs, strengthen the city’s industrial base, introduce advanced technology into the local economy, and contribute to more environmentally friendly transport.

Negotiations are continuing, and the investor’s decision is expected after the completion of all technical and administrative analyses. According to the management, the city is ready to provide all necessary conditions if JMEV chooses Sremska Mitrovica as its European production base.
