Brnabic: We are submitting an amendment that envisages the possibility of Serbia taking over NIS

Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic announced that the government would submit an amendment to the Budget Bill for 2026, which opens up the possibility of Serbia taking over ownership of Naftna industrija Srbije (NIS).

According to Nedeljnik, she added that she opposed nationalization, but that “nothing must endanger the living standards of citizens and the economy.”

– I hope that the Russian partners will keep this in mind. Have they so far? I would say no – said Brnabic.

NIS has been under US sanctions for the past 47 days, and their Oil Refinery in Pancevo, which supplies most of the domestic market, is facing a complete shutdown.
