Serbia needs good infrastructure connections with countries in the region, and cooperation in the energy sector is particularly important, said Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic at the regional business conference of the United Kingdom and the Western Balkans “Building Futures,” which is dedicated to innovations in the field of green energy, infrastructure and advanced technologies.

He stated that there were numerous opportunities for cooperation between Serbia and the United Kingdom and stressed that it would be good for the British to help build the Ruma-Bijeljina-Tuzla high-speed railroad, which would reduce the journey from Belgrade to Tuzla to an hour and a half.

– I was surprised by the speed and efficiency of UK Finance in the construction of the Morava Corridor. We also see the possibility of support through large energy projects. We need to prepare for the future of artificial intelligence – said Vucic.

He added that a lot of energy and effort had been invested in the construction of Serbia’s infrastructure in the past nearly 14 years.

– We wanted to connect with everyone in the region, to create a single system of infrastructure communications, so that we could have a single market and people could live better in the entire region, not just here in Serbia. We have succeeded in some things, but we have not succeeded in many things. There have always been political obstacles – said Vucic.

The conference is attended by more than 300 business representatives from across the region and around 100 representatives of British companies. The aim of the gathering is to encourage the exchange of knowledge, present the latest solutions and trends from British practice in these key sectors of the economy, as well as connect with British companies interested in business cooperation with the Western Balkans region.
