Bosnia and Herzegovina first time in the top 100 startup ecosystem - Fintech and health tech lead development

Bosnia and Herzegovina ranked 91st on the Global Startup Ecosystem Index 2025, which represents a shift of five positions compared to the previous year, with an annual growth rate of 27.8%, according to data from StartupBlink.

Currently, 56 startups are operating in the country, with the support of 15 coworking spaces, 3 accelerators and one startup organization. The startup scene is not yet concentrated in a single industry - companies are active in e-commerce, blockchain, HR and IT outsourcing. Experts assess that Sarajevo, with adequate support and simplified administrative procedures, can become the leading technological center in the region.

The most developed industry among Bosnian startups is fintech, with nine startups, accounting for 16% of the overall scene. This area positions Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 78th place globally and 17th in Eastern Europe.

Of particular note is Rolla, a fitness tech startup that secured a record 6.3 million euros in seed investment in 2023 - which is the biggest amount ever invested in a fitness and health tech startup in Central and Eastern Europe.

Analysts believe that further development of the startup ecosystem in Bosnia and Herzegovina depends on improving administrative procedures, greater investor support and the creation of a network for connecting entrepreneurs.
