Serbian companies establishing tractor assembly and fertilizer production plants in Zambia

Some private companies from Serbia are currently in the process of establishing tractor assembly and fertilizer production plants in Zambia, the Zambian Ministry of Defense announced.

The newly appointed Serbian Ambassador to Zambia, Jasna Zrnovic, stated that she would lead a Zambian delegation to Serbia at the end of the year to finalize the establishment of the factories, according to the Zambian ministry’s Facebook account.

Zrnovic, according to the post, said that Serbian companies wanted to train Zambian experts in tractor assembly and fertilizer production before the factories were built.

During yesterday’s visit to Zambian Defense Minister Ambrose Lwiji Lufuma, Zrnovic stated that funds for the factories had already been secured, and that those who would work in the plants would receive training and capacity building in Serbia.

She added that her role as the newly appointed envoy (of Serbia to Zambia) would be to strengthen relations between the two countries, especially in the fields of economy and defense.

The Zambian Defense Minister welcomed the decision of Serbian companies to establish factories in Zambia.

Lufuma said that the tractor and fertilizer factories would boost the development of the agricultural sector, and that they came at a time when the government was promoting greater investment in the sector, the announcement said.

The Defense Minister also noted that Zambia was blessed with fertile land and was a good destination for agricultural investments thanks to its favorable climate.

Lufuma also called for more partnerships between Zambian and Serbian companies in areas such as agriculture, transport and tourism.
