New investment by Provincial Government – 51 million dinars for Clerical High School and tourism in Sremski Karlovci

The President of the Provincial Government, Maja Gojkovic, visited the Clerical High School of Saint Arsenije in Sremski Karlovci and on that occasion presented a contract on financing the project of reconstruction, rehabilitation and adaptation of the boarding school building worth 51 million dinars.

This is a significant project that will enable the complete modernization of accommodation capacities for the students of the Clerical School during the school year, as well as creating conditions for the space to be used during the summer months for tourism needs and programs that promote the cultural and spiritual heritage of Sremski Karlovci.

– With this contract, we have allocated significant funds for the work of the Clerical School and the development of religious tourism. The Clerical School has prepared an exceptionally good project aimed at expanding and arranging the spatial capacities of this facility – stated President Gojkovic.

New purpose for tourist accommodation

According to her, the Clerical School building will be given a new purpose - providing accommodation to tourists who want to enjoy the potential of religious tourism that the province of Vojvodina undoubtedly possesses - both in Orthodox and religious buildings of other denominations.

Gojkovic stated that the Provincial Secretariat for Tourism provided strong support for the development of this type of tourism, which had been recognized in many European countries as a new and attractive form of tourist offer that attracted a large number of visitors.

– This is, after 1907, the first serious and major support and assistance that will mean something not only for religious tourism, but also for the life and work of the Clerical School in general – stated Rector Jovan Milanovic and emphasized that the Provincial Government had recognized the importance of spirituality, culture and history of Sremski Karlovci and the Karlovci Clerical School.

The event was also attended by Provincial Secretary for Economy and Tourism Dr. Nenad Ivanisevic and President of the Municipality of Sremski Karlovci Drazen Djurdjic.
