Cooperation agreement signed between chambers of Vojvodina and Istanbul – Potential of Serbian industrial zones, railroads and transport in focus of interest of Turkish business people

The Cooperation Agreement between the Chamber of Commerce of Vojvodina and the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce was signed today in Istanbul as part of a two-day visit to Turkey by the President of the Provincial Government, Maja Gojkovic, and the President of the Chamber of Commerce of Vojvodina, Vladimir Gak.

In addition to the President of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, Sekib Avdagic, they also met with Turkish business people, who were presented with the economic and investment potential of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina.

After the meeting with Avdagic, Gojkovic pointed out that Turkish business people had been interested in what Serbia offered in the areas of rail infrastructure, transport, what the potential of Serbia’s industrial zones was, but also what advantages Serbia had compared to global competition.

– Turkey is among Serbia’s key partners in the field of investment, with 800 companies present in our country, employing more than 9,600 workers. Although most investments are concentrated in central and southern Serbia, there is growing interest in AP Vojvodina, especially in the sectors of renewable energy, industry and agriculture – Gojkovic stated.

According to her, Turkish investments in the province are still in the development phase, but there is potential for rapid growth.

– That is why we are here today, to present and offer a favorable business environment, developed infrastructure and qualified workforce – Gojkovic emphasized.

Currently, the most represented sectors when it comes to companies with Turkish capital operating in AP Vojvodina are the manufacturing and construction industries, recycling industry and commerce.

– Of exceptional importance is also the signing of a contract with a Turkish company for the construction of two solar power plants in Vojvodina. These projects will not only generate clean energy, but also create new jobs in local communities and are also part of a broader trend of Turkish investments in solar and wind projects in Serbia – Gojkovic said.

She added that the potential of the AP Vojvodina did not lie only in the economy, highlighting spa tourism as an example of an area in which there was great room for investment and development.
