New Murabba is a planned micro-locality in Riyadh, envisioned as "a city where everything is accessible in 15 minutes". The project aims to create a fully integrated urban environment for living, working and entertainment on an area of 19 km², with a focus on sustainability and e-mobility.
According to Michael Dyke, project director, the aim is for residents and visitors to have everything they need at their fingertips within 15 minutes.
The center of the district is dominated by the Mukaab, a huge cube inspired by the design of the Murabba Palace. When completed, this building will become the largest in the world, with an area of two million square meters, with the combined function of residential units, business premises and tourist attractions. About 400,000 people are planned to be accommodated in Mukaab.
The project is estimated to cost USD 50 billion.
