Who is to build Vozd Karadjordje expressway? – Government forms task force for negotiations with potential contractor

The Government of Serbia has adopted the decision on the forming of the Task Force for the Negotiation and Agreeing of the Implementation of the Project of the Construction of the I-Grade State Road Vozd Karadjordje.

According to the decision, which was signed on October 2 by Prime Minister Djuro Macut, the Task Force is to cooperate with the potential contractor for the purpose of having negotiations during which the value of the services and works on the construction of the state road, as well as the basic elements to the end of signing a commercial contract, will be defined.

Miroslav Alempic, Acting Assistant Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, has been appointed head of the task force, which has another 12 members.

Let us remind that the contractor for the construction of Vozd, which was announced back in 2019 at the opening of the section of the Milos Veliki highway from Obrenovac to Ljig, has not yet been selected.

Vozd Karadjordje was initially announced as a highway - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said at the time that a new highway would be built, connecting Sumadija with eastern Serbia.

According to the project, the expressway from Lazarevac to Bor, with a total length of nearly 164 km, will have two lanes in each direction, three tunnels, more than 130 bridges and 21 interchanges, and the value of the investment has been estimated at EUR 1 billion.

Last October, Vucic stated that he expected the construction to start the next summer (this one).
