The Flender factory, which operates in the Industrial Park in Subotica, intends to lay off between 340 and 350 workers at the beginning of October. According to information unofficially confirmed to Politika, around 300 workers have voluntarily applied to leave the factory with severance pay. In addition, a number of other workers will be placed on the layoff list, some of whom will be redirected to the National Employment Service, while a smaller number of former Flender workers will be taken over by some of the companies operating in the Industrial Zone in Mali Bajmok.

According to information from the factory, a large number of workers have voluntarily applied to leave the company because they managed to obtain favorable severance pay in negotiations with the company’s management. However, according to Politika, negotiations are still underway at the factory on the conditions and the final number of workers who will be laid off. This is by the way, the largest number of workers to be laid off at one time in one of the companies in the Industrial Zone Mali Bajmok. The Flender factory operates in the free zone regime.

This is not the first time that Flender has laid off workers. Last year, a total of 180 workers were laid off on two occasions, mostly through severance agreements.

The data presented in the company’s business results indicate that it had just over 1,200 workers at the end of last year. Business results show that the highest ones of the previous three years were those in 2023, while last year’s revenues were lower than in 2022 and amounted to just under 5.5 billion dinars, while profit was just over 123 million dinars, the lowest in the previous three years.

Flender has been operating in Subotica since September 2020 and is engaged in the production of electric motors, generators and transformers. However, the factory has actually been present in Subotica since 2003, when it was part of the Flender Group as Loher Elektro. From 2005 to 2015, it operated within Siemens Group.

Fabrika vetrogeneratora i segmenata statora vetrogeneratora u Subotici u decembru 2020. zvanično je postala Flender d.o.o. Subotica.
