In Toronto, Canada, during August, the international innovation and invention competition “iCAN 2025” was held, organized by the Canadian association for innovation and advanced skills Toronto International Society of Innovation & Advanced Skills (TISIAS), which brought together scientists, researchers and inventors from all over the world with the aim of unifying creative and innovative initiatives from all over the world. TISIAS was founded in 2013 as a global center for innovators and a platform for supporting creative creativity and promoting innovation, and traditionally every year since 2016, awards and recognitions have been awarded for exceptional ideas that offer solutions for our sustainable future (www.tisias.org). This year’s competition is the 10th anniversary edition and has gathered a record number of participants, and 802 inventions from 62 countries and regions of the world competed for the awards.
Among this year’s winners of the highest awards is the famous Novi Sad researcher and innovator Veljko Milkovic, whose revolutionary invention “two-stage mechanical oscillator” was declared one of the 10 best inventions in the world, announced the Veljko Milkovic Research and Development Center.
In the competition of several hundred ideas that strive to shape a bright future for all of us, Milkovic’s two-stage oscillator, as a mechanical amplifier of clean energy, stood out as a technology that can solve the problems of the energy crisis and climate challenges. This simple mechanism, first patented in 1999, combines a driving pendulum with a lever, whose mutual interaction achieves new mechanical effects and multiplies the invested energy suitable for performing useful work (mechanical hammer, press, pump, electric generator...).
As stated in the jury’s explanation, Veljko Milkovic received a gold medal for the invention of a mechanical oscillator and a special award, awarded to him by the World Invention Intellectual Property Associations (WIIPA), in recognition of exceptional creativity and excellence in innovation.
– This is an award not only for me, but also for all those who supported this invention in previous years – said Veljko Milkovic, the author of 120 inventions and about 30 approved patents. – This is a great success for all professors, scientists, researchers, all well-intentioned people, and there are a very large number of them, who, “with a cool head” wanted to consider this scientific phenomenon and then were brave enough to give a positive opinion, believing in a sustainable future based on clean technologies such as the two-stage oscillator – emphasizes our inventor, who this year marks the first 70 years of creative work that gave rise to numerous inventions that have found application from America to Asia.
This award represents another significant recognition in Veljko Milkovic’s rich career. His two-stage mechanical oscillator, as well as the concept of a self-heating ecological house, have aroused great interest among the professional public, scientific institutions and technology centers from all continents.
Last year, Milkovic was awarded the Tesla Gold Medal and the “Tesla Spirit Award” by the Tesla Science Foundation from the USA for realizing Tesla’s vision of using gravity to drive machines, and this year he also received the prestigious international “Global Recognition Award” for his achievements and pioneering contribution to the field of sustainable architecture and construction.
Veljko Milkovic continues to work on new projects in his eighth decade, and all these awards confirm that his vision and technical solutions are recognized and appreciated beyond the borders of Serbia, the Veljko Milkovic Research and Development Center announced.
About Veljko Milkovic
Veljko Milkovic, about whom eKapija has also written, was born in 1949 in Subotica, and since 1952 has lived in Novi Sad, where he was educated and studied history at the University of Novi Sad. His fellow citizens know him as an expert on the underground world of the Petrovaradin Fortress, while in the former Yugoslavia he is known for his ecological innovations, most notably the concept of a self-heating eco-house. The international public, however, knows him best for his study of mechanical oscillations and the technology of applying the pendulum-lever oscillatory system. He has about 120 inventions and about 30 recognized patents, some of which have been in use for decades. He has written 18 popular science publications and received numerous awards in the country and abroad. He deals with the history of inventions and scientific discoveries.
