The Governor of the National Bank of Serbia, Jorgovanka Tabakovic, stated that, in addition to Banka Postanska stedionica (PBS), some other banks had announced that they would lower interest rates on loans below the expected rates prescribed by the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) as part of the measure to lower interest rates on cash, consumer and housing loans, as well as for refinancing existing loans.

– Banks, as we saw from the example of BPS, can lower interest rates even below our expectations, and there have been announcements that some other banks will do the same. Creating the best possible lending conditions is in the common interest of both banks and clients, thus preserving trust in the banking sector, and we expect banks to recognize this – Tabakovic said in an interview for Kurir.

Speaking about the benefits that citizens will have from lower interest rates on loans, she urged them to seize the opportunity and, starting September 15, when banks are required to come out with new favorable loan offers, take out the loan they need to improve their standard of living.
