Statistical Office: 113,161 companies operated in Serbia last year

Last year, 113,161 companies operated in Serbia, of which the majority were micro-enterprises - 96,706, employing up to nine workers, the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia announced.

There were 674 large enterprises with 250 or more workers, 2,967 medium-sized enterprises with 50 to 249 employees, and 12,814 small enterprises with between 10 and 49 employees.

Looking at the activities, the largest number of companies was in wholesale and retail trade and motor vehicle repair - 31,823, followed by professional, scientific, innovative and technical activities - 15,761, followed by the manufacturing industry with 15,679 companies.

A five-digit number was also recorded in construction, where 10,922 companies operated.

In 2024, 1.33 million workers were employed in enterprises, of which the largest number was in large enterprises - 596,633, followed by medium-sized enterprises - 304,054 workers.

There were 260,538 employees in small enterprises and 176,157 in micro enterprises.
