Nepali and Moroccan employees to also work in Fiat Kragujevac

At the Fiat factory in Kragujevac, 800 workers from Nepal and Morocco will be employed, because there are no workers in Kragujevac, TV Kragujevac reports, citing a statement made by the city councilor for the economy, Radomir Eric. He also said that the city of Kragujevac had 9,000 unemployed people at that moment.

For the long-standing leader of the Autonomous Trade Union of the City of Kragujevac and the Zastava Oruzje factory, Jugoslav Ristic, the arrival of workers from abroad to the car factory is not a surprise.

– It is clear that workers from the outside will come, because it is obvious that people in Kragujevac are not interested in those salaries, which are slightly higher than RSD 70,000, because they can’t survive on that. That’s why Nepali and Moroccan workers are being brought over, as these are countries where people are very poor – Ristic, who is also the president of the “Nova svetlost” Association, told the Beta news agency.

At the Fiat factory in Kragujevar, Ristic explained, a worker can earn up to RSD 90,000 if all the Saturdays are work days, but that means that they work more than 40 hours a week. Ristic said that it was known that Fiat in Kragujevac was not able to secure workers and that it had already brought over workers from Italy, which it, however, had paid incomparably more than workers from Serbia, around EUR 100 per day.
