- The transaction involves the full divestment of the company’s stake in its Bulgarian unit. Further details will be disclosed once the outcome becomes sufficiently certain, NIS stated in its financial report for the first half of 2025, as reported by SeeNews.
NIS has also initiated the process of converting all outstanding receivables into equity in NIS Petrol Bulgaria, typically a step taken to simplify the subsidiary’s balance sheet ahead of a planned sale.
The company operates a network of 22 petrol stations in Bulgaria. In the first half of 2025, NIS held a 2.6% share of the total motor fuel market in Bulgaria and 1.9% in the retail fuel segment.
Earlier this year, NIS said it was considering exiting both Bulgaria and Romania—where it owns 19 petrol stations, due to ongoing difficulties in those markets.
