Issuing of location requirements for construction of main facility of PSHPP Bistrica in progress

Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic has stated that the Bistrica pumped-storage hydroelectric power plant (PSHPP) is the most important project that Serbia is developing in the energy sector, and that the issuing of location requirements for the main facility of the hydroelectric power plant is in progress.

– I expect that by the end of the year the project, technical and tender documentation for the start of a part of the supporting infrastructure will be prepared, while intensive work is underway on finalizing the financing of the project with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and meeting their technical and other requirements – Djedovic Handanovic said at a session of the government Working Group for the construction of PSHPP Bistrica, the Government of Serbia announced.

She underlined that tight coordination and acceleration of all institutions at the republican and local levels participating in the preparation of the project were needed in order to begin work early next year.
