Construction of oil pipeline to Hungary to start next year – Transnafta and MOL sign document on technical specifications

The technical specifications for the construction of the pipeline between Serbia and Hungary have been harmonized, and the works are planned to start next year, stated Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic. The document defining the technical specifications of the project was signed yesterday in Belgrade by representatives of Serbia’s Transnafta and the Hungarian company MOL.

According to the minister, the technical documentation will be completed by the end of 2025, and the construction of the pipeline should begin in 2026.

– The oil pipeline will secure for our country a new route of crude oil supply, and the document signed today is an important step forward and a turning point in the further progress and development of the project, which has the potential to be important for the regional supply stability as well – said the minister.

The planned capacity of the pipeline is up to five million tons of crude oil per year, while its length on the Serbian side will be 113 kilometers.

The document was signed on behalf of Transnafta by acting Director Natasa Lecic and Executive Director for Investments Slavisa Gavrilovic and on behalf of MOL by MOL Group’s Vice President of Logistics Richard Milosovic.

The signing was also attended by Deputy State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Csaba Marosvari and Hungarian Ambassador to Serbia Jozsef Magyar, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Mining and Energy.
