The Serbian transmission network currently has more than twenty interconnecting transmission lines connecting Serbia with eight neighboring power systems, with an available capacity for electricity exchange of more than 4,000 MW, said Nadica Stojanovic, Executive Director for Investments and Development, during the celebration of two decades of operation of Elektromreze Srbije . At the expert conference “Transmission System Operators - a Factor in the Stability of the Power System and Security of Supply,” she emphasized that intensive activities were underway to connect around 11,000 MW of variable renewable energy sources, which required investments and improvement of the interconnecting infrastructure.

She also presented plans for the development of transmission corridors, among which the most important are the Trans-Balkan, Pannonian, Central Balkan and CSE-Continental South East corridors, with an estimated investment of around one billion euros in the period from 2025 to 2034. The implementation of these projects, she added, will provide Serbia with more than 6,000 MW of available cross-border transmission capacity and significantly contribute to regional cooperation and energy stability.
