AikGroup becomes majority owner of Montenegrin Hipotekarna Banka

AikGroup, owned by Aleksandar Kostic, entered its third market by taking over 74.9% of the shares of Hipotekarna banka in Montenegro.

- With the takeover of Hipotekarna banka, AikGroup's net assets reach EUR 10 billion and the Group remains focused on further expansion in the region and providing value in the business environment through strategic investments in digitization and user experience - the announcement states.

This marks the end of the acquisition process which began in December 2024, when AikGroup signed an agreement to purchase 7,620,620 shares of this leading Montenegrin bank. After receiving all the necessary regulatory approvals from the Central Bank of Montenegro and the Agency for the Protection of Competition, as well as fulfilling all the conditions for concluding the transaction, the contract was implemented today at a price of EUR 9.77 per share.

The President of the Management Board of Hipotekarna banka, Esad Zaimovic, said that Hipotekarna banka has been building the trust of clients for decades as the leader of modern banking in Montenegro.
