As reported by Arabian Business, the company has entered into a memorandum of understanding to host infrastructure at the State Data Centre in Kragujevac, Serbia.
Based on a collocation model, the company will deploy its servers within the facility, which is scheduled to go online in 2025. It will become the company’s primary infrastructure site, supporting services across global markets.
Insiders have hinted at a modular, energy-efficient design that leverages state-of-the-art cooling systems, redundant power supply, and next-gen security protocols, reports UAE Stories. It is added that sustainability is expected to play a central role, with energy usage optimized through AI-based climate control and renewable energy sourcing where feasible. The facility will likely be Tier III certified or higher, ensuring high availability and uptime, critical for a company whose services depend on real-time responsiveness.
The new data center will serve as a mission-critical node in Yango’s fast-expanding global network. It will support the tech giant’s wide array of services — from ride-hailing and delivery logistics to its mapping systems, e-grocery platforms, super-app innovations, and emerging AI capabilities.
It is also said that this flagship facility is not a standalone move, but that it forms part of Yango’s broader strategic plan to scale globally with a mix of flagship data hubs and edge nodes. The Serbia hub is set to act as a launchpad for further infrastructure development across the Balkan region and into other parts of Europe. Beyond Serbia, Yango is actively exploring other data center locations across Latin America, Africa, and Asia.
By the way, Yango Group got its start as a brand developed by Yandex, but now operates as an independent company.
