Pier, promenade, pedestrian and bicycle paths – What Sava riverbank will look like from Usce to Gazela

Work has begun on the Sava River embankment, from the mouth of the river to the Gazela Bridge, covering a length of 2,550 meters, which will last for the next ten months, announced Finance Minister Sinisa Mali on his Instagram account.

– Here on the New Belgrade side, we will have a beautiful promenade and a developed riverbank, while at the same time we are working on expanding the international passenger port in Belgrade. This is an important step in preparations for the Expo, because we are creating a safe and beautiful riverbank, expanding the port area and creating space for the accommodation of ship-hotels, which will be an integral part of the Expo – Mali stated.

As he added, paths will also be built, both pedestrian and bicycle ones, that will go all the way to the Expo. The total length of the entire path will be 15.5 km (2,550 m to Gazela, and another 13 km to the Expo).

– There is also an old railway bridge, which will be converted into a pedestrian bridge, so that people can cross to the other side of the river. As you know, we are also building the New Sava Bridge, which will be fully adapted for pedestrians and cyclists, and which will have as many as six traffic lanes (of which four are for cars and two for trams). The construction of the new bridge is also connected to the construction of a tunnel from the Faculty of Economics to Despota Stefana Boulevard – Mali stated.

In the Usce Park, he reminded, a Natural History Museum and an aquarium will be built, the construction of which will begin in a few months, and is planned to be completed by Expo. In addition, a large flagpole with the Serbian flag will be erected in the Usce Park.
