Agreements on procurement of two “moles” for construction of subway system – First one to be delivered in April 2026

The agreements on the procurement of two TBMs (tunnel-boring machines), so called “moles”, for the boring and construction of tunnels for the Belgrade subway system were signed on Friday, stated the minister of finance of Serbia, Sinisa Mali.

Mali wrote on Instagram that those machines were of key importance for the realization of the first subway line and that they were an important step for that project.

– In the next 12 months, they will be produced in China, and each one will weigh as much as 2,000 tons and be 110 meters long and nearly 10 meters wide. The delivery of the first machine awaits us in April 2026, of the second in June, following which they will be put into operation – said Mali.
