Renovation at the Petrochemical and Synthetic Rubber Factory in Elemir

Overhaul is currently being carried out at Petrohemija in Pancevo. The plan is for the overhaul of this factory, which is also one of the leading domestic exporters, to be completed at the end of March. The goal is to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the plant in the upcoming period. Around 400 employees are involved every day, and the value of the overhaul is estimated at RSD 550 million.

- The most important activities are focused on the implementation of activities in the Ethylene factory, primarily on the overhaul of boilers. In addition to the plant in Pancevo, overhaul is also being carried out at the Synthetic Rubber Factory in Elemir. The overhaul of Petrohemija is part of the comprehensive Program for increasing the company's reliability, given that Petrohemija consists of seven factories and has been in operation for over 45 years. This is the third overhaul of the equipment since NIS took over HIPP June 2023, with the aim of achieving long-term sustainable operation of the company. Equally important is the improvement of the company's energy efficiency, which is of great importance, especially in an energy-intensive industry such as the petrochemical industry, in which energy has a significant impact on costs - said Goran Stojilkovic, director of Petrohemija.

He points out that the overhaul will also have positive effects on Petrohemija's financial operations.

- By increasing the reliability of work and improving energy efficiency, we increase the processing capacity of primary gasoline, which achieves the volume effect, i.e. lowers the price of our products and improves Petrohemija's position as a significant Serbian exporter. This contributes to the sustainability of the business, which is important for the families of 1,250 Petrohemija employees, the city of Pancevo and all Petrohemija associates - Stojilkovic stated.

According to him, Petrohemija pays significant attention to ecology, and all activities during the overhaul, which should last 40 days in total, are aligned with valid procedures in the field of occupational safety and environmental protection.

- During the overhaul, initiatives and projects are carried out, the goal of which is to improve the situation on the ground, fulfill the requirements of legal regulations, as well as improve environmental protection. All planned activities are carried out in accordance with the strictest environmental standards and with a focus on the safety of all participants, taking into account that, in addition to our employees, external contractors are engaged in overhaul works and projects - noted Stojilkovic and pointed out that all works are carried out by domestic companies.
