Waiting for the subway – Documents signed with RATP which regulate continued engagement in optimization of infrastructure, training and employment of staff, system testing…

Two additional documents concerning the Belgrade Subway project have been signed with the French company RATP DEV. These are annexes to the Memorandum of Understanding and the Agreement on Early Operator Help Services, announced the company Belgrade Metro and Train. The press release says that this “additionally strengthens the strategic cooperation with one of the leading world operators of public transport.”

The documents were signed on behalf of the City of Belgrade by Andreja Mladenovic, the director of the PUC Belgrade Metro and Train, and Radovan Kremic, the public transport secretary, with Jean-Luc Chapoton, the group international business development director at RATP DEV, and David Mainguet, the project director for Serbia.

– As a reputable company with rich experience in managing public transport in both Paris and worldwide, RATP DEV will continue providing expert support in the process of development, design and preparation for the functioning of the Belgrade Subway. The signed documents defines continued engagement in the optimization of the infrastructure, training and employment of staff, establishment of operating procedure, testing of the system and the preparation of its putting into operation – the press release points out.

Andreja Mladenovic said that the project of the construction of the subway system in Belgrade was one of the most important infrastructure projects in Serbia.

– The support of reputable international partners, such as RATP DEV, is of extreme importance for its successful implementation. We will use their rich experience in order to ensure the efficiency and sustainability of the subway system in our capital – he said.

Jean-Luc Chapoton especially emphasized the expansion of the company’s activities.

– RATP DEV is entering new markets and has recently become the operator of the subway system in Lyon, the second biggest city in France, as well as Line 15 in Paris. In addition to that, we have become the first foreign operator which will manage a subway line in Singapore, which is a great success and an indicator of the quality of our services – he assures.

David Mainguet pointed out that, with an experience in managing public transport in 14 countries and over 1.5 billion passengers a year, the company continued to transfer knowledge and the best practices so that the Belgrade Subway would be modern, efficient and adapted to the citizens’ needs.
