The expansion includes two phases of construction: the first, which involves the construction of a pavilion with catering and commercial content, and the second phase, which refers to the construction of new warehouse spaces.
The first phase of construction envisages the construction of a pavilion that will contain a cafe-restaurant and a shop. The pavilion will be located next to the nearby Museum of Contemporary Art facility and will be connected to the museum, allowing visitors easy access from the museum to the new facility. The building will be on the ground floor, with a basement and one underground floor. The ground floor will house the hall and outdoor seating area of the cafe-restaurant, while the shop will occupy part of the space, but be separated by a special entrance.
The second phase of construction envisages the expansion of the museum’s capacity through the construction of new warehouse spaces. The new warehouse facility will be an underground and one-story facility, located along the northeast side of the existing museum facility. The building is designed to be separated from the main building of the museum in order to avoid endangering the existing foundations of the museum, and the warehouse spaces will be reduced in height compared to the existing underground floors of the museum.
Citizens can inspect the decision on the website of the city of Belgrade and file a complaint with the Ministry of Environmental Protection within 15 days from the date of publication.
Let us remind you that, in 2021, first prize at the competition, which the Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade announced for the conceptual solution of the pavilion, with the expansion of warehouse capacity, was awarded to the author Branko Stanojevic and associates Ana Komnenic, Dimitrije Prelic and Andrea Stankovic.
