The first transmission line system of 400 kilovolts (kV) Pancevo-Resita was put into operation in November, and now the same has been done with the second system. The power line connects the Pancevo 2 and Resita substations and creates conditions for the growth of electricity import and export between the two countries, as well as increasing the stability of the supply and power systems of Romania and Serbia, but also Southeast Europe.
The power line is part of the very important Trans-Balkans Corridor for the transmission of electricity. It is a project that connects Romania, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Italy. The latter two countries are connected by a submarine cable, several sections have been built in the other countries so far, while several are under construction.
Serbia put its section of the Pancevo-Resita power line into operation in December 2017. The dual-system power line in Serbia is 68 kilometers long and consists of 203 steel grid poles, and in Romania it has 206 poles and is 62 kilometers long.
