First regional electricity exchange starts functioning – Serbia, Slovenia and Hungary consolidate market

This week, the first regional electricity exchange in this part of Europe, in which Serbia, Slovenia and Hungary participate, has started functioning, stated the minister of mining and energy of Serbia, Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic.

– Our three countries have consolidated their exchanges so as to be more efficient when trading electrical energy, but all this also increases the availability of electrical energy for our countries, for our citizens and the economy, and creates the conditions for more favorable prices – added the minister, who is taking part in the meeting of the Energy Community Ministerial Council in Vienna.

ADEX Group announced on Tuesday that it had successfully closed the transaction that consolidated the Slovenian, Serbian and Hungarian electricity exchanges, BSP, HUPX, and SEEPEX under its ownership.

As Elektromreza Srbije, one of the founders of ADEX Group, announced, that marks a milestone in the development of the region’s power trading market.

– This achievement positions ADEX Group as the premier power trading hub for Central Eastern and South Eastern Europe, further supporting market liquidity, integration through market coupling, efficiency, and price transparency – it is said.

Through this transaction, ADEX Group, headquartered in Budapest, becomes the sole shareholder of BSP, HUPX, and SEEPEX.
