The left tube of the Munjino Brdo tunnel has finally been dug through. It is the tunnel which is located on the section of the highway E-763 “Milos Veliki”, from Pakovrace to Pozega, the PE Roads of Serbia reminds. It is designed with two tunnel tubes, one for each driving direction. The length of the left tunnel tube is 2,755.75 m, whereas the length of the right tunnel tube is 2,740.14 m. The width of the driving lane in the tunnel is 7.70 m.

Perpendicular pedestrian crossings between the two tubes are designed in case of extraordinary events in the tunnel, which can also let intervention services vehicles through. Also, there are two tunnel niches in each tunnel tube and expansions for the removal of broken vehicles.

– The perpendicular road passes (passes for vehicles to switch from one tube to another) are designed with a mutual distance of 1000 m / 1006 m along the length. With its proportions, the perpendicular road pass enables the moving of vehicles and long trucks from one tube to another, in case of an extraordinary (incident) event. In the middle part of this perpendicular hall for the passing of vehicles, there is a space for the substation – the Roads say.

The execution technology, as they clarify, is planned according to the so-called new Austrian method (NATM) which entails the application of one of the 12 planned types of tunnel bracing, based on the mapping of the tunnel excavation and the measuring of the deformations in the volume of the excavation.

Let us remind that the right tube of the Munjino Brdo tunnel was dug through in mid-October when it was announced that the left tube would be dug through on December 20.

The former minister of construction, transport and infrastructure, Goran Vesic, said at the beginning of September this year that the highway section from Pakovrace to Pozega would be completed by June 1, 2025.

Let us remind that the earlier announcements were that the section from Preljina to Pozega would be completed by the end of 2021, but that, in the meantime, only a part of this highway to Pakovrace was opened to traffic.
