Hotel complex Ritz-Carlton to be placed in location of former Jugoslavija – Agreement worth around half a million euros signed

In the location of the Hotel Jugoslavija, in 2027, Belgrade will get a new hotel – a luxury Ritz-Carlton with 190 rooms, two towers, an office tower with 34 floors, a residential tower with 42 floors and a marina on the Danube. The agreement on this construction was signed yesterday by representatives of the companies Marriott International and Danube Riverside. The investment, as RTS reports, is worth close to half a billion euros.

– Through the arrival of the Ritz-Carlton brand, Belgrade is positioning itself as a globally recognized destination for luxury tourism, which brings benefits not just for the tourism industry, but also the economy, culture and infrastructure of our city – said Ivan Bosnjak of Danube Riverside.

Marriott Group has 550 hotels worldwide, and in three years, the Belgrade hotel will be on that list too.

– We are not a company which sells just rooms and food, we sell a unique experience and that is why our guests keep returning. We are glad to come to Belgrade, because Serbia and its capital city are developing rapidly and we don’t doubt at all that our hotel in Belgrade will be one of the most successful ones – points out Sandeep Walia of Marriot International.

The minister of finance of Serbia, Sinisa Mali, said that Marriott had made the good decision to build a hotel in Serbia, a country which has an investment-grade rating, a growing economy and macroeconomic stability.

– You have come to a country with a record-low unemployment rate, a country which has set a record when it comes to direct foreign investments, because as much as 63.64% of all direct foreign investments in the Western Balkans come to Serbia – said Mali.
