A long-announced depoliticization of public and state-run companies has started with staff changes at Telekom Srbije!

As Novosti daily learns, Branko Radujko, chairman of the Managing Board of Telekom Srbije and president of DS (Democratic Party) personnel, will be soon replaced in that position by Ljubomir Rajsic, a telecommunications expert who is not a member of any political party. Radujko will still remain the director general of that company.

Everything is already ready for this change in the Managing Board of Telekom and the only thing left to be done is that the Serbian government confirms it at a session on Thursday or next week. Novosti learns that these staff changes at one of the most successful companies in Serbia have already entered the government procedure and that it is only a matter of form when they will reach ministers and the prime minister.

As Novosti learns from its sources, the Democratic Party (DS) is expected to continue to replace its members at Telekom Srbije, Jat, EPS, NIS and other companies by the year's end.

At the same time, the United Regions of Serbia (URS) is preparing bills to depoliticize public companies, which shall stipulate a complete abolition of managing boards and formation of supervisory boards in which the state will have its representatives. Judging by the first reactions of people at SPS (the Socialist Party of Serbia) and DS, Dinkic's initiative is not going to receive a support from the ruling coalition, at least during the current mandate.

Even the largest opposition party - SNS (Serbian Progressive Party), is against the abolition of managing boards. Members of this party believe that if somebody is not doing the job well, the solution is not to abolish the position but to appoint better staff.
