Digital Tourist Assistant Platform to Get AI and ChatGPT Options – System Upgrade Worth EUR 1.5 Million Commissioned

The Ministry of Information and Telecommunications has published the tender for the 2nd phase of the digitization of the tourism offer of Serbia.

According to the technical specification of the job, the subject of the public procurement procedure is the upgrade and improvement of the information system for the digitization of the tourism offer Tourist Assistant, as well as the system called The National Portal for Accommodation Reservation.

The selected bidder is expected to upgrade the equipment, that is, to expand the capacities of the hardware of the Digital Tourism Assistant system so that it can support at least 10,000 users at the same time without a perceptible drop in performance.

Also, the platform needs to be upgraded so that tourists are offered interactive communication with tourists by using a service based on artificial intelligence and a voice-recognition service. In other words, the users of the platforms should be enabled to communicate with a digital guide and ask questions.

The “Single Sign-On” service should also be enabled for the users of the eGovernment system when signing in the Tourist Assistant in the capacity of a tourist or an advertiser of commercial content, that is, signing in by using existing accounts in the eGovernment system.

The possibility of geo-positioning on the Google map on which tourists can see their current position, as well as the positions of various entities entered into the system, is also required, with the aim of having them move more easily and exploring the entities which are located at a certain distance around them.

The functionality of the entry of the information about the positions of the important spots within the locality should also be upgraded through a layout.

Both platforms are planned to be multilingual, with 5 selected languages with the use of the Chat GPT service for assisting with the translation of the entered content, instead of the current two languages, Serbian and English.

It is necessary to ensure that both platforms are multilingual with the use of the Chat GPT service for assisting in translating the entered content into the 5 selected languages, and the procuring party will choose 5 languages in the phase of a detailed functional analysis. The platforms should enable users to enter textual content in Serbia, as so far, and to then be able to translate that content into other languages by using the assistance of the Chat GPT service.

When it comes to upgrading the National Portal for Accommodation Reservation, a facilitated entry of information is planned so that primarily small providers of accommodation services, which have little to no experience in advertising their offer line, would be enabled to offer online accommodation capacities without mediation costs and fees. This will be enabled through the use of a setup assistant (the so-called wizard).

It is also necessary to upgrade the module for the defining of the price so that, in addition to forming the price per person from the maximum capacity to the minimum capacity of that accommodation unit, it also encompasses the forming of the price per overnight stay per accommodation unit type and per overnight stay per person per accommodation unit type.

This enables the user to choose the number of persons in the accommodation unit and at which price, instead of having the price defined per overnight stay for all potential capacities.

The value of the job has been estimated at slightly under RSD 179 million (around EUR 1.5 million).
