Construction of the gondola from Zlatibor to Pribojska banja to commence next year?

The necessary documentation for the construction of a new gondola from Zlatibor's Tornik peak to Pribojska spa should be prepared by the end of this year, and the construction works should start at the beginning of next year, said the president of the municipality of Cajetina, Milan Stamatovic.

- The deadline for the completion of the new gondola is one year from the start of the works - said Stamatovic after yesterday's announcement by the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, that Tornik peak in Cajetina and Pribojska banja in the municipality of Priboj will soon be connected by a 14.7 kilometer long gondola. The President of Serbia promised that EUR 25 million for this investment, the total value of which is 30 million, will be provided by the state, and the rest by the municipality of Cajetina.

- Half of the route of the future gondola is within the territory of the Cajetina municipality, including the future stop near the Uvac monastery, while the remaining part belongs to Priboj. At the very top of peak Tornik, the antennas that were destroyed in the 1999 NATO aggression will be completely restored and brought to commercial use, similar to the Avala tower in Belgrade - Stamatovic said, according to the official municipal website.

According to Stamatovic, the new route of the gondola, i.e. the panoramic cable car, will be part of the gondola network, which, apart from the announced one, will also include the longest one in the world, the "Golden gondola" connecting Zlatibor town center with Tornik, as well as the one whose construction is being extensively prepared by the Cajetina authorites, from the top of Tornik to the top of Cigota.

He said that he expects that the entire future network of gondolas, starting or ending at the top of the Tornik ski resort, given the past experience and successes achieved in this business, will be managed by the public company Gold Gondola from Cajetina.
