Still Not Known Whether Pancevo Bridge Is to Be Reconstructed or Removed – Project on Hold Until Bridges Near Vinca and Ada Huja Are Built

The minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Goran Vesic, pointed out that the Pancevo Bridge was safe for traffic according to the reports they were getting from the PE Roads of Serbia, the ministry announced.

– We will do a reconstruction or the construction of a new bridge in place of the Pancevo Bridge. The fact is that, during the reconstruction, there can’t be traffic across that bridge. In order to start this, we first have to complete the bridges near Vinca and Ada Huja – he said.

As he said, “the bridge near Ada Huja, once it is built, will take all the traffic from the Belgrade-Zrenjanin highway and part of the traffic that arrives to Pancevo through the new ring road.”

Vesic said that there was an idea to also have tram traffic go across the Pancevo Bridge.

– Moving the traffic to the left bank of the Danube would be a relief for the citizens – he pointed out.
